Meet the artists, the Martu Rangers who care for country, and the curators of We don’t need a map at the Martumili Gallery on Saturday 30 April 2016.
10am – Basket-Making Workshop
Join the artists throughout the day for a basket-making demonstration and workshop.
10:30am – Artist and Curator Talk
Delve deeper into the artwork on a gallery tour with the artists and co-curators Erin Coates and Gabrielle Sullivan.
11:30am – Looking after Ngurra (Country)
Martu Rangers share the traditional and western land management practices employed to look after their country.
12 noon – Bushtucker Presentation
Martu bushtucker includes a range of flora and fauna food species. Come and listen to this presentation as stories are shared and a variety of animal hand signs are demonstrated.
12:30pm – Lunch
1pm – Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa Leadership Presentation
The Leadership Program targets Martu eager to learn more about mainstream structures, processes and governance. The program aims to improve their ability to communicate their ideas and aspirations to the broader community. Come and listen to their story.
