Kim Mahood

Writer and consultant

Kim Mahood (ACT) is a writer and artist based in Wamboin near Canberra. She grew up on Tanami Downs Station (NT) and has maintained strong connections with the Warlpiri traditional owners of the station and with the families of the Walmajarri stockmen who worked with her family.

She is the author of Craft for a Dry Lake, which won several awards. Her essays have been published extensively and she is also a practising artist with work held in state collections.

She co-ordinated the participation of the Paruku Traditional Owners in the Canning Stock Route Project, and is the only non-Indigenous artist included in the exhibition.
